Post-Dress Rehearsal Thoughts - The Resurrection

Last night, our dress rehearsal for Opera Atelier’s fully-staged production of Handel’s The Resurrection was the stand out of OA’s 38 year history! What with all the attendant challenges this production has faced, it somehow asserted itself last night as one of the company’s finest achievements.

I suppose it was a combination of the three year waiting period due to COVID lockdown/restrictions and the thrill of being able to assemble all of our original cast of singers and dancers that contributed to an evening of such magic and deeply moving performances.

A rock solid and supportive administrative team also played a major role in ensuring that our artists were able to concentrate 100% on their performances. It’s an incredible feeling to know that OA’s administrative team loves the artists and the art form as much as we do!

Over 500 people attended last night’s dress - many of them young students, and the response was overwhelming. Gerard Gauci’s transformation of Koerner Hall was like a miracle, as were the performances of our singers, Artists of Atelier Ballet, Tafelmusik, technical staff and crew.

Jeannette and I encourage all of you to do whatever is necessary to make time to fit this beautiful production into your schedules and celebrate the arrival of Spring with all of us!

Join us and be transported by Opera Atelier's production of The Resurrection, which opens at Koerner Hall on April 6 and 8, 2023 at 7:30 pm and April 9, 2023 at 2:30 pm.
