Dido and Aeneas is one of those musical gems that I came into contact with very early on in my studies. I’ve been fortunate enough to revisit this piece time and time again over the course of my career, and by this point I think I know every part by heart. I’m very much looking forward to some ‘boozy’ fun as the Sailor in Opera Atelier’s fall 2016 production!

In performing in Medea and Dido and Aeneas, what are you most looking forward to?

I’m looking forward to a season of ‘firsts’. Dido and Medea, surprisingly, are two pieces that I have yet to perform. It will be a thrill to be supporting a cast of friends and colleagues with whom I have shared the stage on many occasions. Both Belinda and Nérine are confidants to the title characters in Dido and Medea respectively. It’s a welcome challenge to play the support figure of a tragic character and I look forward to seeing what parallels I can … Read more

In performing in Medea, what are you most looking forward to?

I’m really looking forward to performing as Jason again because he’s not the typical kind of character I get to play. He lies, he deceives, he is manipulative…he’s not a great guy but he has amazing music!

Why is Jason such a great role?

There are so many things about Jason that interest me above and beyond his music. He is in love with someone he shouldn’t be and tries to convince his wife, Medée, that … Read more
