REV ED Karine White headshot 3 WEB

In performing in Dido and Aeneas and Medea, what are you most looking forward to?

I am thrilled to be performing several roles in these productions and am most looking forward to embodying each character fully, from Witch and the spirit Mercury in Dido to Cléone in Medea!

What is special about performing with Opera Atelier?

It has been a dream of mine to perform with Opera Atelier from the first time I went to see one of their stunning productions (Mozart’s The Magic Flute). As a student in the School of Atelier Ballet, I have always appreciated and admired the beautiful combination of ballet and opera that Opera Atelier cherishes. To be involved in all aspects of the 2016-2017 season is certainly a dream come true!

Do you like Charpentier/French baroque music? And why?

Coming from a French background, this music and compositional style has always been near to my heart. It will be an exciting season.

What do you like about Purcell, and why?

I really appreciate the drama in the music of Purcell. From the very first measures of Dido’s Lament, the listener fully understands the tragedy and gravity of the moment.

Karine White appears in both productions in Opera Atelier’s 2016-2017 season.

Not only is Karine White a very talented singer, she is friendly and totally charming. I’m looking forward to hearing her in Medea. She sang beautifully for us at the Oakville Opera Guild last November.
