What an exciting night for Opera Atelier! Yesterday evening, our guests and members of The University Club were treated to hors d’oeuvres and drinks while watching a slideshow of images from the recent production of Lucio Silla. Afterwards, we headed upstairs for some entertainment, starting with an interview between Marshall, Jeannette and board member Diana Wiley. Their conversation spanned a number of topics, but focused heavily on why their interpretations of period operas are being so well received in Canada and abroad, such as most recently at the Salzburg Festival with Lucio Silla. For those who were able to attend, guests also heard about the time Marshall and Jeannette spent at the Moulin Rouge, paving the way for Opera Atelier to begin in Canada in 1985. Last night was a sold-out event, so if you were unable to attend, we hope to see you at our next Salon Evening in March. Stay tuned for our upcoming events!
Deanna Boychuck is Opera Atelier’s Manager of Corporate Development and Special Events. A former singer, Deanna is huge fan of Marshall’s directorial style, especially how his gestures and staging offer such empowering movement for singers.
